  CITIZEN IN A EUROPEAN DEMOCRACY COMPETITION - NARRATIVE REPORT

'Compared to the competitions of previous years, this year’s program was significantly enriched: it focused on the accession of Hungary into the European Union. The number of the participating teams has shown an increasing tendency in the past few years.' (The whole report can be found below.)

  PROJECT CITIZEN NATIONAL FINALS

Sumeg (North-west Hungary) was the venue of the national finals of the Project Citizen programme, on 20th of March, 2006. Elementary school students (aged 10-14) presented their portfolios, while secondary school students (aged 14-18) competed with their power point presentations. The public figures judging the programme found the work done by the students to be of highest quality. Please find photographs taken of the programme below.

  CITIZEN IN A EUROPEAN DEMOCRACY – REGIONAL FINALS

The regional finals of the large-scale Citizen in a European Democracy programme took place between the 24th of February and the 4th of March. Budapest, Kecskemet, Debrecen, Eger, Gyor, Zalaegerszeg and Pecs all provided venues for the finals. The 70 participating teams involved 280 students. The programme included the presentation of a preliminary task, a test and a parliamentary debate. The first and second place winners qualified for the national finals. See attached a selection of photos taken at the regional finals.

  PROJECT CITIZEN REGIONAL HEARINGS

In the second half of February, the Civitas Association organized the regional hearings of the project Citizen programme, in order to select the best portfolios (elementary school level) and power point presentations (secondary school level). These auditions were visited by many interested teachers who haven’t yet joined the programme. You can find photos taken in the Kisfaludy Ramasetter School below.
